What's new

Every change to Writ you would notice, newest first. Something wrong, or something you want? enquiries@writai.co.uk

  1. · Version 2026.10.10

    Feedback you can trust

    • SecurityFeedback on your statement is always signed with the reviewer's real name, as we hold it. Nobody can sign it as someone else.
    • SecurityYour teacher or tutor can mark your statement as being reviewed or returned, and that's all. They can't change who sent it, where it went or when.
    • SecurityUploads now accept only PDFs and ordinary photos, the files each upload asks for.
  2. · Version 2026.10.09

    Tighter privacy and security

    • ImprovedFinished your statement? You're now asked, once, whether it could help next year's applicants, at the top of your dashboard or straight after a review says it's ready. You see exactly what you'd share first, and No thanks means no.
    • SecuritySettings now shows who has opened your work: your school or partner's staff, a tutor, or our support team, and when. Every view is recorded.
    • SecurityDeleting your account now also deletes our record of the emails we sent you.
    • SecurityWhen you say yes or no to something, the time is recorded by our database rather than your browser, so the record of what you chose can't be altered.
    • SecurityIf you use Writ AI through a school or partner, your teacher or mentor can see your work but no longer the list of other students' email addresses.
  3. · Version 2026.10.08

Writ AI through your school or a partner

    • NewIf your school or a partner organisation sets a deadline for your statement, it appears on your dashboard and in Settings, and you get a reminder a week before and the day before.
    • ImprovedOnce your teacher or mentor is assigned, you send your statement to them by name, and Settings shows who they are. They get an email the moment it arrives.
    • ImprovedFeedback from your school or partner now says who it's from, on the page and in the email.
  4. · Version 2026.10.07

Fewer questions, asked at the right time

    • ImprovedSigning up asks for nothing beyond your email and password. Writ asks once whether you would like tips and reminders by email, while your first analysis is being written (or on your dashboard), with Yes and No thanks side by side. Everything stays off until you say yes.
    • NewOnce your statement is finished, or a university has replied, Writ asks once whether you would share it to help next year's applicants. You see exactly what you would share before you agree, and No thanks means it does not ask again on that device.
    • ImprovedSharing your statement after recording what universities decided on your dashboard? Those decisions are already filled in.
    • SecurityThe courses Writ suggested to you, and which of them you shortlisted, are now deleted after 13 months, as our privacy policy says. So is the record of each email we send you.
    • ImprovedOur terms now list the emails that come with an account (sign-in, payments, feedback, your own deadlines and important notices about your account), and say plainly that accepting them is never a yes to marketing.
    • ImprovedThe student privacy guide now says what happens if something you write makes us worried about your safety, and where to get help straight away.
    • ImprovedIf your school or a partner organisation has invited you, you're asked whether to share your work with them on the very first screen, before you write anything, and the invitation uses their name.
    • NewSharing your work with a school or partner? You can now stop at any time in Settings, under Your plan, instead of having to email us.
    • NewEvery email with tips or news from Writ AI now has an Unsubscribe link that works without signing in, and your mail app's own Unsubscribe button works too. Settings shows the change straight away.
    • SecurityIf one of our emails bounces or is reported as spam, that address is never emailed again.
  5. · Version 2026.10.06

Getting started in five steps, and coaching you can watch

    • ImprovedGetting started now takes five steps instead of seven. Your name and your subject share the first screen, and for priorities you tap the three that matter most instead of putting all eight in order.
    • NewOne box at the end instead of four: write about your subject in your own words, as messily as you like, and Professor Writ reads it back in pieces you can edit. Every piece is your own words, exactly as you wrote them. Writ never rewrites them.
    • NewWrit's five suggested courses can go on your shortlist in one tap, and you can still remove or swap any of them.
    • ImprovedYour free profile analysis starts on its own as soon as you finish getting started, so there is no extra button to find.
    • ImprovedWhile the coach or the analysis works, you see what it is doing right now (reading your draft, writing your questions, checking it keeps your words yours) and a progress bar, instead of a spinner.
    • ImprovedThe profile analysis is quicker: looking up the books and work you have listed now happens at the same time as the analysis, not before it.
    • FixedIf a coaching reply comes back in the wrong shape, the coach quietly asks again before showing you an error.
    • FixedA free profile analysis that was used up but never arrived is now given back automatically, within half an hour.
    • ImprovedCourse suggestions can now learn from the courses students actually choose, grouped by the two things they put first, once 40 students in a group have chosen. The order you gave is never changed.
    • NewFrom November, your dashboard asks what each university decided: one tap per course, and optional. It helps Writ suggest better courses to the students after you. Nobody is ever shown a prediction of their chances.
  6. · Version 2026.10.05

    Fresher course data

    • Course dataCourse data refreshed from Discover Uni's 29 September 2026 edition: 347 newly published courses added, renamed degrees shown under their current names, and courses that have closed taken off.
    • Course dataWhere Discover Uni publishes a figure for the subject at a university rather than for one course, course cards now show it, labelled subject-wide. Continuation and satisfaction figures now cover 95% of courses, and job outcomes about 90%.
    • Course dataFigures from small groups of students now appear on course cards, marked as a small group with roughly how many students, instead of being left out.
    • Course data74 more courses are linked to their official records, and 44 degrees that were listed twice now appear once.
    • FixedCourse cards now print Discover Uni's own published figures. For 438 courses the share of graduates in professional jobs was shown a few points off.
    • Course dataThe graduate-destination figures in our subject guides are updated to the new edition.
  7. · Version 2026.10.04

    Clearer words, and no scores

    • ImprovedThe whole-statement review now says Needs work, Taking shape or Strong instead of a number. The course finder's offer figure is now called Offer rate, because it is the public UCAS figure for the subject, not a prediction for you.
    • NewReport a concern: a link in every footer for raising a safeguarding or safety worry, with a reply within one working day.
    • ImprovedSigning up now shows the Terms and Acceptable Use Policy you agree to, and that Writ is for students aged 16 and over.
    • ImprovedTap a pillar in the coach to see what it means in one line, before what the coach sees in your draft. Going over the 4,000-character limit now tells you how much to trim.
    • NewThree new guides on the blog: the best tools for your personal statement, whether you can use AI for it, and how to start one.
  8. · Version 2026.10.03

A coach that shows you improving

    • NewEach coaching round reads your four pillars in words (not yet, taking shape, strong) with a note pointing at the evidence in your draft, so you can watch them improve from round to round.
    • NewBefore you ask for a round, you can guess your own weakest pillar, and the coach tells you whether it agrees.
    • ImprovedQuestions are cards, hints fold away from round three, and the plan for your next draft is a checklist you can tick as you go.
    • FixedIf Writ updates while you are using it, the page now reloads into the new version instead of briefly showing an error.
  9. · Version 2026.10.02

    Safer accounts

    • SecurityIf your school adds you to Writ for Schools, its staff see your work only after you accept the invitation on your dashboard. You can decline, or leave later.
    • ImprovedWhen you sign up with email, Writ now tells you to check your inbox for the link that finishes creating your account.
    • SecurityMore protections from our latest security review, including a fair-use daily limit on AI coaching that no real student should ever reach, and limits on the public statement form.
    • NewDelete your account yourself, any time, in Settings. It removes everything you have written in Writ.
    • ImprovedEasier to read: stronger text contrast across the site, and underlined links, checked against the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard.
    • NewSigned in on a computer you no longer use? Settings → Sign out everywhere else. Resetting your password now does this for you.
    • ImprovedNo sign-up email? The check-your-inbox screen can send the link again, and signing in before you have confirmed now tells you so plainly.
  10. · Version 2026.10.01

Your permissions, and Writ in the open

    • NewThis page: every change to Writ you would notice, newest first.
    • ImprovedThe super-curricular directory (competitions, essay prizes, reading, courses and programmes for each subject) is now open to everyone, no account needed. Sign up to mark what you have done and get Professor Writ's analysis.
    • SecurityEvery permission is now off until you say yes: emails from Writ, the results-day question, and Writ learning from your statement. Settings shows each one, when you chose it, and every change you have made.
    • NewTransparency pages: how our AI works, your permissions, and security with every company that handles your data, all linked from one Transparency page.
    • FixedRemoving the course that holds your statement now warns you first, instead of deleting the statement with it.
    • FixedYour free profile analysis is no longer used up if our AI fails to answer, or if your profile was still empty.
    • SecurityFixes from a full security review, including how reviews and payments are counted and what account deletion removes.
  11. · Version 2026.09.28

    Faster coaching

    • ImprovedThe coach now runs on Claude Sonnet 5.5. In our tests a coaching round came back in 6 to 9 seconds, and a whole-statement review in about half the time it used to take.
    • ImprovedIf the AI is busy or cannot answer a round, Writ now asks a second model straight away instead of telling you to try again.
    • SecurityThe rules are unchanged: the coach still asks questions and never writes a word of your statement, whatever you ask it.
  12. · Version 2026.09.27

    Security fixes

    • SecurityFixed four issues from our latest security scan, including tighter limits on who can read the material the coach is calibrated on, and making sure anything you type appears in our emails as plain text, never as code.
  13. · Version 2026.09.24

Trim to fit, deadline countdowns and clearer plans

    • NewTrim to fit. If your statement is over UCAS's 4,000 characters, the whole-statement review points at a few small cuts, in your own words, that would bring it under. It never makes a cut for you.
    • NewDeadline countdown. Add your school's internal deadline and your dashboard counts down to it and to your real UCAS deadline: 15 October 2026 at 18:00 if any choice is Oxford, Cambridge or most medicine, dentistry or veterinary courses, otherwise 13 January 2027 at 18:00.
    • NewCourse details now show every official figure we hold for a course in one place.
    • ImprovedWhat's free is now clear: a free account includes onboarding, the course finder, one profile analysis, and question one with three coaching rounds. Questions two and three come with a plan.
    • NewA Cancellation and Refund Policy page explains your 14-day right to cancel, and checkout now asks you to confirm it before you pay.
    • ImprovedOur privacy policy now shows our registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZC253257).
  14. · Version 2026.09.19

Writ is now Writ AI Limited

    • NewWrit is run by Writ AI Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (number 17467334). Our company details are now at the foot of every page and in our emails.
    • FixedFixed 14 course titles that were cut off or wrongly capitalised.
  15. · Version 2026.09.17

    Joint degrees show both subjects

    • Course data720 joint degrees now list the modules for both subjects, including 446 at St Andrews and Glasgow.
    • ImprovedOur privacy policy now says exactly what it means for Writ to learn from a statement, and you choose whether yours can be used.
  16. · Version 2026.09.15

    Referral codes at checkout

    • NewHave a friend's referral code? Type it at checkout for £5 off your first plan.
    • FixedReferral links whose code was all numbers were being lost on the way in. They now count.
  17. · Version 2026.09.13

2027 entry, and a free taste of the coach

    • NewTry the coach before you pay: a free account gets three coaching rounds.
    • NewA parent can pay for your plan with a payment link, without needing an account.
    • Course dataCourse links now go to each university's 2027 entry pages.
    • Course dataFilled in missing entry requirements, modules and summaries for 594 courses, from each university's own page.
    • ImprovedEvery subject now has a full set of supercurricular suggestions.
  18. · Version 2026.09.12

Every published course, and five new coaching tracks

    • Course dataThe course finder grew from 1,834 courses to over 5,000 across the same 27 universities, built from Discover Uni, the official record of every UK undergraduate course.
    • NewFive subjects that were coached as something else now have their own coaching: Statistics & Data Science, Film & Performance, Linguistics, Architecture, and Sport & Exercise Sciences.
  19. · Version 2026.09.11

    Control over our emails

    • NewYou can turn off emails from the founder in your settings.
  20. · Version 2026.09.05

    Meet Professor Writ

    • NewProfessor Writ now guides you through the app.
    • NewOnboarding asks one reflection question, worded for your subject: which one thing you have done taught you the most, and what you worked out from it.
    • NewMark the two courses you would most likely firm and insure, and tell us where your predicted grades came from.
    • ImprovedYour dashboard now shows the one thing to do next.
  21. · Version 2026.09.03

    A fairer course finder

    • FixedCourse cards no longer show a one-word verdict on how hard a course is to get into. It was built on offer rates UCAS publishes per subject group, not per course, so it could call one of the most competitive courses in the country 'accessible'. Cards now show the evidence, with a side-by-side comparison.
    • ImprovedThe coach now knows what five universities say they look for in a personal statement, as well as what your chosen courses teach.
    • Course dataAdded Loughborough University: 15 courses across 6 subjects.
  22. · Version 2026.09.02

Subject rankings, with the working shown

    • NewSubject rankings on one page: the answer first, and how we worked it out one click away.
    • Course dataAdded every Natural Sciences course, and a ranking built on only some of the measures now says so.
    • ImprovedWhere our data comes from now says which blanks are ours, and why.
