For investors
The personal statement is the wedge, not the business.
It is how we reach a student at the moment of maximum intent, for almost nothing. The business is being the layer a UK applicant and their school use to make the whole decision, and the course data is what makes that defensible.
The thesis
In September 2025 UCAS replaced the single free-text personal statement with three scaffolded questions. It did so explicitly to widen participation, after progress on disadvantaged applicants had stalled.
It did not close the gap. Scaffolding only helps if you already know what a good answer to each question looks like. Students with expert help still know. Students without still do not. The format changed; the advantage did not move.
The alternative on offer today is a chatbot that will write the whole thing for free, or a tutor at £30–60 an hour. Writ sits between them on price and above the chatbot on trust, because it refuses to write a sentence of the statement and interrogates the student’s own claims instead.
The market, from UCAS’s own figures
338,940
UK 18-year-olds applying, January 2026 deadline
The core market, and it is growing 4.8% a year on demographics alone.
619,360
Total UCAS applicants, up 3.1%
The larger pool. International applicants grow faster and need more help, not less.
40.7%
Share of UK 18-year-olds who apply
The rate is flat. Growth is demographic, which makes it predictable rather than hoped for.

The entire seasonality of the business, and the reason acquisition cost has to be near zero.

The asset
A verified UK course dataset built by hand and checked against each university’s own published pages: entry requirements, admissions tests, real module lists. It is the thing that answers “which course, which university, what are my odds” — a longer and larger relationship than one essay, and the part a competitor cannot copy in a weekend.
The current counts are on the front page, recounted from the data files rather than typed in, with a test that fails the build if they drift.
What the wedge opens
- 1
Schools
One sixth form is roughly 150 students in a single sale, at the right moment, with borrowed credibility and near-zero acquisition cost. There are thousands of UK secondary schools with sixth forms.
- 2
International applicants
619,360 total applicants against 338,940 UK 18-year-olds, growing faster, needing more help because the system is foreign to them, and able to pay more.
- 3
The rest of the decision
The course dataset already answers which course and what the odds are. Admissions tests and interview preparation sit in the same place.
- 4
The dataset itself
Licensable. Optionality, not a plan, and it is listed last on purpose.
Traction, and why it is not on this page
Because a number published on a public URL is a number dressed up for an audience. Ask and you get the real figures, whatever they are on the day, with the drop-offs shown as plainly as the totals.
